BitcoinLoxion, South Africa

In 2024, I signed up to volunteer with Adopting Bitcoin Cape Town, completely unaware of what Bitcoin even was. That year, I also attended a Bitcoin conference, still not fully understanding the world of Bitcoin. After the Cape Town Bitcoin event, we went on a road trip to Bitcoin Ekasi, and it was there that everything changed for me. I witnessed firsthand how the community used Bitcoin as a medium of exchange, and it was an eye-opening experience.

During that trip, I met a lovely lady who introduced me to Bitcoin Dada. She shared with me their educational program and the incredible sisterhood they were building. Inspired, I enrolled in their 7th cohort later that year. The experience was transformative—I learned so much and built lasting friendships with others who were just as passionate about Bitcoin as I was.

I took everything I learned from Bitcoin Dada and put it into action. I founded Bitcoinloxion, where we are building a circular economy in Khayelitsha, one of the largest townships in Cape Town. We’re also running a garden project where people working there are paid in Bitcoin, further contributing to the growth of a Bitcoin-powered community.

Tando, Kenya

Being a Bitcoin Dada has been life-changing for me. Not only did I deepen my knowledge about Bitcoin and financial literacy, but I also found a community of amazing women who helped me step outside my comfort zone and made me believe in myself more than I ever thought possible.

After completing the course and graduating, I landed an amazing opportunity to work for Bitcoin Dada as their Growth Lead & Content Creator. This role has been a constant source of learning, expanding my knowledge of Bitcoin and honing my skills even further, eventually inspiring me to launch my own project, Tando—an app that enables seamless bitcoin spending in Kenya.

The journey has been incredible, and I owe it all to the seed Bitcoin Dada planted in me. I’m eternally grateful to Marcel and the entire community for laying the foundation for my success.

B-trust, Kenya

Bitcoin Dada has been more than an educational platform; it has grown into a community where I found my people. After completing the course, I joined the mentorship program, where Sabina guided us through content creation in-depth. Her mentorship was invaluable. Shortly after, Marcel approached me with an opportunity to apply for a position as a communications lead at Btrust Builders. I submitted my CV, went through the interview process, and was thrilled to secure the position.

Coming from a non-technical background, my role at Btrust Builders is a continuous learning journey. I am challenged daily, working with developers and technical content. I manage social media, help plan and execute events and internal projects, write newsletters and blogs, and oversee the overall image of Btrust Builders. Being part of the operations team has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I get to work with amazing people who challenge me everyday.

My experience with Bitcoin Dada has been nothing short of transformative. Joining the community reshaped how I understood Bitcoin and its potential to create change.

Through the Bitcoin Dada program, I gained invaluable knowledge and connected with a community of supportive, like-minded and inspiring individuals. The experience bridged the gap between my skills as a product designer and the dynamic world of Bitcoin. It gave me the confidence to navigate this space and contribute meaningfully to its growth.

Today, I am proud to work as a product designer at Mavapay, one of the leading Bitcoin companies in Nigeria. This milestone reflects how Bitcoin Dada empowered me to find my voice and purpose within the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Blink, Uganda

Before embracing Bitcoin, I served as Operations Manager at PRIDE Bank in Uganda, gaining a solid foundation in financial operations. Intrigued by Bitcoin’s potential, I transitioned after a brief but impactful introduction to Bitcoin Kampala. This led me to Bitcoin Dada, where I graduated from the 5th cohort. At Bitcoin Dada, I found a supportive community of sisters united by their curiosity about Bitcoin, fostering growth and mutual success.

Invited to serve as Community Coordinator for Bitcoin Dada in Uganda, I played a pivotal role in expanding our community from 3 to nearly 50 members through physical meetups and engaging on social media. This success culminated in organizing Uganda’s first Bitnob meetup, surpassing expectations with 150 attendees and sparking heightened local interest in Bitcoin.

Recognizing my dedication, Bitcoin Dada offered me the role of Growth Lead, complemented by a 3-month stint as Community Ambassador for Bitnob in Uganda. These positions further fueled my passion. In October 2024, fully committed to Bitcoin’s mission, I resigned from banking to pursue my purpose. Serendipitously, an opportunity at Blink as an accountant emerged, marking another significant step in my Bitcoin journey. Grateful for the wisdom and support from Bitcoin Dada, this community continues to shape my path with growth and success.

Trezor Academy, Kenya

My adventure with Bitcoin Dada began just before hosting the first Cohort of Trezor Academy Kenya. Feeling uncertain and in need of support, I reached out to Marcel. Her guidance boosted my confidence and led me to enroll in Cohort 6 of the Bitcoin Dada program.

While hosting the Trezor Academy classes, many students were eager to know how they could apply their newfound Bitcoin knowledge. As a fellow student, I realized that having a personal Bitcoin strategy was crucial, especially for Trezor Academy alumni, with a little mentorship. This realization inspired me to found Bitsavers Eduhub, a community that offers knowledge on Bitcoin fundamentals and a savings mentorship journey with Bitcoin.

The Bitcoin Dada community has been incredibly supportive, volunteering for our sessions, offering reassurance, and providing valuable referrals. Being part of this community has given my initiative a stellar reputation.

Thanks to Bitcoin Dada, I’ve also gained a mentor and received a scholarship to further my Bitcoin knowledge. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunities and the unwavering support.

Bitcoin Dada transformed my once uncertain path into a journey of purpose, growth, and empowerment.

Before Bitcoin Dada, I felt lost in the complexities of financial systems. Through Bitcoin Dada’s inclusive and supportive community I learned about the true power of Bitcoin, its potential, and the underlying principles of sound money. The knowledge I gained was enlightening, but the real magic was in the sense of belonging and confidence that blossomed within me.

With confidence I founded Bitbiashara. We educate business owners and entrepreneurs about Bitcoin, onboarding every business onto the Bitcoin standard, and positioning them on a global level.

I stand as a testament to the transformative power of Bitcoin Dada and the impact of knowledge and community.

Bitcoin Dada redefines and allows every woman to unlock their potential in a safe space.

School of Satoshi, Uganda

My journey through Bitcoin Dada has been illuminating, beautiful, and a true blessing. This experience was especially fulfilling because I was part of the first Ugandan Dadas, which played a role in expanding the Bitcoin Dada community within Africa.

After successfully completing the program, I was given an incredible opportunity by Marcel to MC the Cohort 6 Bitcoin Dada graduation ceremony. This moment was transformative, it not only elevated but also pushed me to embrace skills I hadn’t fully recognized within myself.

Inspired and encouraged by this journey, I took the leap to start a Uganda-based online Bitcoin education program. The initiative focuses on teaching Ugandans about Bitcoin in native languages like Luganda, making it easier for people to relate to and truly understand the concepts. The program, is structured around My First Bitcoin Diploma curriculum, ensures that learners get a solid foundation in Bitcoin.

A major milestone was receiving a grant from Bitcoin Beach, which allowed for School of Satoshi’s smooth kick off. This generous support was an honor and reinforced the importance of Bitcoin education in empowering communities.

The journey has been both incredible and challenging, but each obstacle has only fueled my passion to keep pushing and creating meaningful impact. I am deeply grateful to Bitcoin Dada for the pivotal role they have played in shaping my future. Their support and vision have empowered me to step forward and contribute to Bitcoin education in a way that directly benefits my community.

Additionally, I provide resources and information in Hausa, the most widely spoken language in West Africa, to ensure the message reaches a broader audience. My work is dedicated to demystifying Bitcoin, encouraging participation, and promoting financial inclusion through this transformative technology.

FairDeeds, Kenya

I joined Bitcoin Dada as part of the first cohort in May 2022. At the time, I knew little about Bitcoin, but out of curiosity and in support of Marcel’s vision I decided to take her class.

What I discovered was a whole new perspective on money. Understanding how Bitcoin works completely changed my view on currency and financial sovereignty.

My passion for art and African artifacts led me to an incredible opportunity with FairDeeds, a charity organization leveraging Bitcoin to fight poverty. Today, I serve as the bridge between FairDeeds, Bitcoin Dada, and local artisans, connecting their handcrafted products: bags, kiondoo, jewelry, and more to a global market.

Our work has gained international recognition, showcased beyond Africa at major conferences like the Plan B Forum in Lugano, Switzerland. Seeing our impact extend globally is a testament to the power of Bitcoin and the dedication of the Dada community.

Marcel’s unwavering commitment to empowering women continues to open doors for us. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities that keep coming our way, allowing us to grow, thrive, and make a lasting impact.

Sarah Nutritives, Kenya

I joined Bitcoin Dada in February 2022 and graduated as part of Cohort 2. The supportive community and extensive resources have profoundly inspired me. Currently, I’m involved in educational and community projects within the Bitcoin space, helping more women to understand Bitcoin. Through my business, I create curiosity about how businesses can adopt Bitcoin for payments and as a store of value.

My community-building efforts show that Bitcoin is for everyone, regardless of age. By sharing my knowledge and experiences, I aim to inspire more women in business to participate and enjoy the benefits of Bitcoin, like borderless transactions. This is my way of giving back for the free Bitcoin training I received at Bitcoin Dada almost two years ago.

Collaborating with Bitcoin Dada has been transformative, deepening my understanding of financial independence and decentralized finance. This knowledge has enriched my personal life and enhanced my career as a nutritionist, allowing me to offer comprehensive advice on financial and physical wellness.
I’m forever grateful to Bitcoin Dada for this life-changing journey, and I look forward to continuing to inspire and empower others.
